AI for Everyone

Learning AI means unlearning old habits.

Ever catch yourself typing keywords into Google when you could just ask a question? Still clicking through multiple websites when AI could give you a direct answer? You're not alone - we're all unlearning how we've done things for decades.

What You'll Discover:

New ways to solve old problems:

  • Three of our members recently used AI chatbots to fix technical problems at home (one saved £200 on a repair!)
  • Simple conversations with AI instead of complex Google searches
  • Getting help without feeling judged - AI never thinks your question is stupid

Understanding what's changing:

  • How AI affects jobs, healthcare, and daily life
  • Knowledge to help friends and family navigate these changes
  • After one meeting, you'll know more than most people

A safe space to experiment:

  • We start every meeting with questions from complete beginners
  • 18 friendly members, all learning together
  • Share what's working (and what's not!)

How We Meet:

Discussion-based meetings approximately every 6 weeks at St Andrew's Centre, Hertford. Relaxed atmosphere - people drop in when they can. Meetings last about 90 minutes.

Your first meeting is FREE, then £3 for the second meeting, thereafter £8 per meeting or a fixed price to the end of December 2026.

Most members stay connected between meetings via our optional WhatsApp group, where we share tips and "unlearning moments."

Getting Here:

The Centre is tucked away behind St Andrew's Church on St Andrew Street. As you approach the Church from the street, follow the path around to the back (on the right) - you'll find the main entrance there. Council pay & display car park nearby on St Andrew Street. Two accessible toilets available.

Part of Something Bigger:

We're connected to the national u3a AI initiative, with access to:

  • Exclusive members' library with plenty of beginner material
  • Free monthly online presentations on different AI topics
  • Regular newsletter with updates and tips

Our group leader Robert is part of the national AI team and presents at u3as across the region.

Never Used AI? Perfect.

You don't need technical skills - just curiosity and willingness to try new approaches. The hardest part isn't learning AI, it's letting go of the old ways we're used to. That's exactly what we help each other with.
