Croquet is a game played in teams on grass using six iron hoops and four balls per team with a wooden centre peg. It can also be played as a single or double pair in a team. In singles the players play with two balls each. In doubles, it is one ball a piece. We play mainly Association croquet but also enjoy playing golf croquet rules and other variations We play on up to six full size lawns and enjoy various social events during the season. Our sessions are held on Wednesdays and Thursdays from Easter until the end of October each year on the cricket outfield known as Westfield at Glaxo's in Ware. Most of our new members start with no knowledge of the game, so the more experienced members give them lessons on how to play and explain the rules. We have mallets available for use of beginners and supply balls and hoops and boundary ropes. Each session ends with a social cup of tea.
