The U3A sailing group meet at Broxbourne Sailing Club every week on a Tuesday from 10.00am to 4.30pm throughout the year. The group enjoys recreational dinghy sailing and racing in Wayfarers, Bosuns and 420's, and although the majority of members are experienced sailors, we are happy to accept new members with no previous sailing knowledge. We have monthly short talks and coaching sessions and mix crews during the day to help pass on our sailing skills to new members.
You will need to wear suitable clothing and shoes. Please bring a change of clothes and towel.
The clubhouse facilities are excellent with changing rooms and showers. Tea, coffee and snacks are available at a reasonable price but you will need to bring a packed lunch if staying for the day.
Safety is paramount and a safety boat with a qualified crew available during sailing with all members involved in a rota for skipper or crew.
A number of sailing holidays are organised throughout the year which offer different sailing experiences and are always great fun. A video of our trip to the Norfolk Broads is available to view.
RYA sailing courses are available at BSC for both sailing and power boats.
There are 6 vacancies at the moment, and we offer a gradual introduction for new members during the season to build up confidence and experience.
An annual fee is payable at the beginning of the sailing season.
